Kate Black’s work aims to capture the spirit of people and place and blends photojournalistic sensibilities with the fine arts. She specializes in wedding photography, children's portraiture and the documentation and revelation of everyday life. Her images have appeared in various publications, including the New York Times, Business Week, Washington Post, local newspapers, charity brochures, professional websites and as artwork for cds. Kate has served on the selection committee of several social documentary photography exhibits and awards, including the Open Society Institute's Moving Walls exhibit and the Soros Justice Media Fellowship. She is also the recipient of the Canon Emerging Photographer's Prize. She lives in New York City.
